About this tool
Timesheets, freelance invoices and overtime claims all need hours between two clock times minus breaks. Doing it by hand goes wrong at midnight crossings and when converting minutes to decimals (30 minutes is 0.5 hours, not 0.3). This calculator handles shifts that end after midnight, subtracts unpaid breaks and shows both h:mm and decimal formats, which payroll systems usually require.
Enter an hourly rate to see gross pay for the week. Days left empty are ignored, so it works for part-time and irregular schedules. Nothing is saved; copy the totals into your timesheet.
Frequently asked questions
- My shift ends after midnight. Does it work?
- Yes. An end time earlier than the start is treated as the next day.
- How are decimal hours calculated?
- Minutes divided by 60: 7 h 45 m = 7.75 hours.
- Can I calculate overtime?
- Compare the weekly total with your contract hours; the difference is overtime. Pay at a different rate must be computed separately.
