About this tool
Time zones are defined by the IANA database, which names each zone after its main city, such as Europe/Istanbul or America/New_York. Your browser ships that database and applies the daylight saving rules for the date you choose, so a meeting set in March and one in November get different offsets when a zone changes its clocks.
The offset column shows the difference from UTC at that moment, which is what the ISO 8601 standard uses and the safest thing to write in an invitation. Because clocks change on different dates in Europe, North America and the southern hemisphere, the gap between two cities can shift by an hour for a few weeks each year.

- Does it account for daylight saving time?
- Yes. The offset is calculated for the exact date and time you enter, using the rules your browser ships for each zone.
- Why does a city show +1 day?
- The converted time falls on the following calendar day in that zone. A 9 pm call in New York is already 10 am the next day in Tokyo.
- Which time zone is used by default?
- The one your device reports. Change it from the first dropdown if you are planning for somewhere else.
- What is UTC?
- Coordinated Universal Time, the reference from which every zone is measured. It never changes for daylight saving, which makes it ideal for logs and scheduling across borders.
