Online Timer & Stopwatch

Pick a preset or start the stopwatch. The countdown sounds an alarm when it reaches zero, and both modes keep time against the system clock so a background tab cannot make them drift.

About this tool

Timers are the backbone of focused work: 25 minutes for a Pomodoro session, 5 for a break, 45 for a study block. The presets cover the common intervals, and the stopwatch mode counts up when you need to measure instead of limit.

Timing runs off the wall clock rather than a tick counter, so throttled background tabs, sleeping laptops and slow frames do not accumulate error the way a naive interval-based timer does.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running in a background tab?
Yes. Browsers throttle timers in hidden tabs, but the remaining time is measured against the system clock, so the countdown stays accurate and the alarm still fires.
Will it work without an internet connection?
Yes, once the page has loaded. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is fetched while the timer is running.
Why did the alarm not make a sound?
Browsers block audio until you interact with the page. Pressing start counts as an interaction, so the alarm works on any timer you have actually started.
What is the Pomodoro technique?
25 minutes of focused work followed by a 5-minute break, with a longer break after four rounds. The 25 and 5 presets are set up for exactly that.
