Rotate & Flip Image

Turn an image by quarter turns or any custom angle, mirror it horizontally or vertically, and download the result in the same format.

Choose an image to rotate or flip it.

About this tool

Phones sometimes store a photo sideways and only note the correct orientation in metadata, which many apps ignore. Rotating the pixels themselves fixes the picture everywhere. Mirroring is useful for selfies, which front cameras usually flip, and for preparing artwork for printing on transfer paper.

Quarter turns are lossless in geometry: every pixel moves to a new position without resampling. Arbitrary angles enlarge the canvas so nothing is cut off, and the empty corners are filled with the background colour you choose (or transparency for PNG and WebP).

Frequently asked questions

Why is my photo still sideways in some apps?
Those apps read the EXIF orientation flag instead of the pixels. This tool writes the rotated pixels and drops the flag, so the result looks the same everywhere.
Can I rotate by a few degrees to straighten a horizon?
Yes. Use the angle slider. The canvas grows to fit and the corners are filled with the chosen colour; crop afterwards with the Crop Image tool if you want clean edges.
Is the original file changed?
No. A new file is generated and offered for download; the original stays untouched on your device.
