About this tool
A grade point average weights each course grade by its credits: an A (4.0) in a 4-credit class counts more than an A in a 1-credit seminar. The calculator uses the common scale where A+ and A are 4.0, A− is 3.7, B+ is 3.3 and so on down to F at 0. Total grade points divided by total credits gives the GPA.
Cumulative GPA combines this term with your history: enter the GPA and credit total from your transcript and the tool recomputes the overall average. Use it to check what grades you need this term to reach a scholarship or honours threshold.
Frequently asked questions
- My school uses a different scale. Can I still use this?
- If your scale maps letters to the same 4.0 points, yes. Schools with A = 4.3 or percentage scales will differ slightly.
- Do pass/fail courses count?
- Usually not toward GPA. Leave them out.
- How do I raise my GPA fastest?
- High grades in high-credit courses move the average most; the more credits you already have, the slower it changes.
