About this tool
Different industries use different barcode symbologies. CODE128 encodes any ASCII text compactly and is the usual choice for shipping labels and internal IDs. EAN-13 and UPC-A are the retail codes on product packaging and require a valid check digit. CODE39 is common on ID badges and in logistics because it is easy to print; ITF-14 marks shipping cartons.
The generator renders vector SVG, which scales to any label size without blur, plus a 2× PNG. Bar width sets the narrowest bar in pixels: 2 is ideal for screens, 3 or more for small thermal printers. Keep the quiet zone (the white margin) intact when you place the code on a label.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does it say my value is invalid?
- EAN-13 needs exactly 13 digits with a correct check digit, EAN-8 needs 8, UPC-A needs 12. Type 12 digits for EAN-13 and the check digit is added for you.
- Can I generate a barcode for a product I sell?
- Retail EAN/UPC numbers must be assigned by GS1 to be unique worldwide. For internal use, any number works.
