About this tool
A QR code stores text in a grid of black and white modules that any phone camera can read. The content can be anything: a URL, a Wi-Fi network with its password, an email draft, a phone number, an SMS or a vCard contact that adds itself to the address book. This generator builds those payloads in the formats phones recognise, so a scan opens the right app directly.
Error correction lets a code survive damage or a logo placed over it: level L tolerates about 7% loss, H up to 30%, at the cost of a denser grid. Keep the quiet zone (the blank border) when printing, use dark modules on a light background for reliable scanning, and prefer SVG for print since it scales without blur. Codes never expire because nothing is stored on a server; the content lives inside the image.

- Do the QR codes expire or track scans?
- No. They are static codes with the content embedded directly, so they work forever and nobody can track scans.
- PNG or SVG?
- SVG for print, signage and design tools: it scales to any size. PNG for websites, documents and messaging apps.
- How much text fits in a QR code?
- Up to about 2,950 bytes at the lowest error correction, less with higher levels. Long content makes a dense code that is harder to scan, so keep it short.
- Can I use custom colours?
- Yes. Keep enough contrast: dark modules on a light background scan best. Inverted or low-contrast codes fail on many readers.
- Is the Wi-Fi password visible?
- It is stored in the code in plain form, as the Wi-Fi standard requires. Anyone who scans the code can join the network.
