About this tool
Celsius and Fahrenheit are the everyday scales, Kelvin is the SI unit used in science, and Rankine is the absolute scale matching Fahrenheit's degree size. Celsius and Fahrenheit cross at −40°, which is the only temperature where both scales read the same number.
Kelvin and Rankine start at absolute zero, the point where thermal motion is minimal. Nothing can be colder, so the tool warns when a conversion produces a value below −273.15 °C.
